How to design a website to meet business needs

Our approach to UX/UI design emphasizes thoughtful strategy and real user requirements. We strive to create solutions that are intuitive, aesthetically appealing and designed with efficiency in mind, which is why we decided to describe what a design process that takes into account the needs of a business and its clients should look like. A website that does not take into account the assumptions of the business, does not adapt to its needs is just a graphic interpretation of the catalog of the company's offer.

Define the values and problems of the target group

Every website should reflect the logic and philosophy of your business. The website should follow the business based on

  • defined objective,
  • gain traffic from the search engine
  • generate queries

But above all, it should help customers understand the business and show its value.

Communication and value for customers

Another important point is to communicate and address the concerns of potential customers who are in the middle sphere of the marketing funnel, the so-called MOFU.

Understanding the principles of web design is the basis for good execution. The most important step is to plan and develop a strategy to build engagement among clients and meet their expectations once they access the site whether from a search engine or an advertising campaign.

Building the process and project team

Building a design process before the project begins is a key element in ensuring its success, easy verifiability, and working within the specified schedule and pace.

The project process is designed to establish the principles of cooperation with the client's team and the form of the cooperation itself, it includes several iist steps:

Definition of the objectives and scope of cooperation

Before starting any design work, it is important to define the business and technical objectives of the project, as well as to define its scope.

Understanding the customer and target group

An in-depth analysis of the client's needs and expectations and an understanding of the project's target audience is essential to ensure that the project meets their requirements.

Establish a strategy and methodology

Choosing the right work method, whether Agile, Scrum or waterfall, is important to ensure smooth project execution. It is equally important to establish a project strategy that will guide through all stages of the project.

Building a project team

Good coordination between team members and the selection of the right competencies is crucial to work efficiency.

Schedule and budget planning

Adequate planning of time and financial resources for the project avoids delays and cost overruns.

Preliminary research and analysis

Conducting preliminary market, competitive and technological research and analysis allows for a better understanding of the project environment.

Each of these elements contributes to an efficient and effective design process, which is essential for the successful implementation of a digital product project.

Stages of web design

Each of these following steps requires close collaboration with the customer and continuous iteration to ensure that the final product meets all requirements and is effective from both a business and user perspective.

Talk and interview. First KickOff Workshop

This is the initial stage in which the client's expectations and needs are defined.

As a result of this stage, the Contractor should get to know what the company does, what its values are, what it communicates, and who the Customers are and what their needs are. Only truly 'stepping into' the shoes of the Customer and the business will give an understanding of their needs and value in the form of a product that will truly build engagement among potential Customers and turn them into Customers of the company. It is important to know the buying process in which Customers buy and to match the structure, content to how Customers buy.

Research and UX analysis

This stage involves an in-depth analysis of competing websites, digital products, identification of market trends and preferences of the target audience.

Research UX includes both quantitative analysis (e.g. data from Google Analytics, heat maps, surveys), analysis and processing of data and information from existing sources i.e.: foundational data available to the company i.e: Desk Research), as well as qualitative (e.g. interviews with users, company employees and the client's team.

The goal is to understand what needs and problems users have in the buying process and what they expect from the company.

Building personas and target audience

This stage focuses on detailed profiling of the target audience. In addition to demographics and psychographics, user behavior, needs and motivations are analyzed. This allows the creation of user personas, which are crucial in UX design. This ensures that the design work is based on specific assumptions, and the personae provide a targeted and personalized approach to UX design.

Userflow construction - scenario realizations

Here, the UX designer creates user path maps that visualize how a user will navigate the site to complete specific tasks. This is crucial to ensure an intuitive and efficient flow of information and to minimize potential points of frustration for the user in the website journey process.

The scheme is developed in the form of diagrams or blocks

UX mockup prototyping / interactive prototypes /.

Mockups for a digital product. UX prototype design that can be used for subsequent iterations in the form of workshops with the client's team.

At this stage, preliminary versions of the site are created, which can be tested and modified. The prototypes are usually of lower visual quality (e.g. wireframes), allowing the focus to be on functionality and overall layout instead of visual details. Prototypes can be made interactive and tested with the target group or reworked in the form of workshops with the client's team.

Subsequent iterations and workshops with the client's team / +research group /.

Iterations and workshops are integral parts of the web design process, playing a key role at each stage of the project. They enable continuous improvement and adaptation of the project based on feedback from the defined project team on the client and user side.

Design iterations allow flexibility to respond to new information, changes in expectations and challenges that arise during the design process.

In turn, workshops, conducted both internally with the Clientai team and end-users, are an invaluable source of direct feedback that allows for a deeper understanding of user needs and preferences. The iterative process is cyclical and dynamic, allowing systematic refinement of the project until the optimal solution is reached and the effects are confirmed by respondents, e.g.: in the form of an in-depth interview during the HI-Fi mock-up testing stage.

UI layer design

Once the UX mockups are approved, the project moves to the user interface (UI) design stage. This is the process where decisions on color scheme, typography, buttons, icons and other visual elements are finalized. The UI design should not only be aesthetically pleasing, but also support desirability, UX functionality and maintain the company's existing branding.
